Regional Cooperation

Hey guys. My name is Daniel Shaaya, and I am one of the chair of Regional Cooperation for TIMEMUN this year. This is my third year in the MUN program at AIS, and is my first year as a chair. Previously, I have participated in two conferences, Paris Model United Nations, and our own, TIMEMUN. I received recognition in both these conferences for my delegations, and had always been a very active delegate regardless of my country. I am an American, and have lived in Miami, Florida for 11 years, London for 4, and Israel for 3.

I take strong pride in where in my Jewish-American-Cuban heritage, and always try to share it with my friends. As a child a grew up in the States, and then all of a sudden one day after a came back from summer camp my parents said we were moving to London, which is when I first started my life as an expat and international citizen. Four years after moving to London I had to leave all my friends again and move to Israel, where my dad was given a new job, which is what brought me here chairing for TIMEMUN.

Many people who know me might describe me as a funny guy who is often the class clown. I love having fun and all but when it comes to work I tend to be very serious. One of my favorite hobbies is playing drums; I’ve been playing for about seven years now, and have played in a lot of concerts. I also love to play a lot of sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. My favorite American football team is the New York Giants; I am a huge fan and watch every single one of their games that is aired on TV. People know me as being a Yankees fan, because at heart I really consider myself being a New Yorker since every member of my family is from or now lives in New York.

Hopefully, within the near future I see myself going to university in the states, and am looking towards studying law. I look forward for being your chair for TIMEMUN, and hope we could have fun but keep things at a serious note. If you have any questions please feel free to email me anytime. My email address is u11dshaaya@wbais.org .

Look forward to seeing you all!

Daniel Shaaya
