Under-Secretary General

Dear delegates and chair, I am Maayan Sacher. I am 17 years old and in 12th grade. I am an Israeli American. I was born in the United States and made Aliya when I was three years old. I attended the Haifa Ahuza Reali school from first till third grade. From fourth till 6th grade I as in the Herzliya Brandeis elementary school. In 7th grade I was in the Smadar Middle School in Herzliya Pituach. I went to an Israeli school till 8th grade, when I moved to the WBAIS. I have been part of the MUN program since 9th grade. I have participated in 7 conferences. I was a delegate in the Paris Conference in 2006, 2007, and 2008. I was a delegate in the 2008 TIMEMUN conference and a Chair for the Environment committee in 2009. I was a delegate in the New York Conference of 2008 and participated in the IMUN conference in 2009. Model United Nations has been a very important program in my life and has been significant for my development as a globally aware person. In 9th grade I was an ELL (English Language Learner) student, where english was a challenging language for me and public speaking was very difficult. The program built my confidence in the field of public speaking and allowed me to consolidate my english through research. I learned the needed skills to research and prepare for debating. Through this amazing program I was able to learn from many delegates the different points of view on solving global issues. I became aware of global problems and learned about the political outlook of various nations. I have been, for the past two years, a leader program in the program with the main aim of ensuring that those involved will learn from the experience and expand their horizon and strengthen their global perception. I am open to any questions and always available to help future delegates and chairs. TIMEMUN is challenging, yet an invigorating conference, which will involve learning about MUN issues, and practicing the official UN procedure and conduct. It is a special conference mostly because people from various areas, with different political outlooks and ideologies, can discover commonalities though discussions. Furthermore delegates will build and friendships despite conflicting views. I will use my experience and passion for MUN to ensure that this conference is productive and a significant experience.
