TIMEMUN Conference: General information

You are simulating the Councils and Commissions of the United Nations. Therefore, you are regarded as diplomats and ambassadors of your country as well as your school. It is extremely important for the continuing good relations between TIMEMUN, the American International School Israel, the municipality of Even Yehuda and the local diplomatic and business community that you behave properly at all times. Your behavior will affect your school’s future participation in TIMEMUN.

The conference coordinators expect conduct for all students to be maintained at a high level at all times. Those not willing to assume the responsibility for conducting themselves in such a high manner may be dismissed from the conference.

Delegates are reminded that the conference is a formal conference and that formal dress is required. For example: jeans, denim or cloth jackets, open-necked shirts, T-shirts, etc. or sneakers are not permitted. However, most students prefer to bring only one or possibly two formal suits or outfits, and this is perfectly acceptable.

Each delegation will be responsible for supplying its own headed notepaper and sufficient copies of draft resolutions (resolutions passed in the assemblies will be photocopied by the conference).

Debates can be exhausting and there aren't many breaks. You may want to consider bringing a bottle of water or soda, or a small snack (nothing in crunchy packaging or that has a smell--i.e. no tuna fish sandwiches). Please use recycling bins for cans and bottles. Bins can be found at several places on the AIS campus.

Always come prepared. Be sure you have pens, paper and delegation note-paper at all times while at the conference. Also, the placard with your countries name should be with you at all times during debate as it is essential for being recognized by the chair. Also, in order to print and save your resolutions at the conference it will be necessary for you to bring your own disk to the conference or send your data to an Internet e-mail account that you can access. We have computers running the format of Microsoft Word, so other programs may have difficulty converting.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to approach a member of the TIMEMUN secretariat, staff, or directorship for assistance.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT AIS IS A NONSMOKING CAMPUS. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED IN ANY AREA IN OR AROUND THE SCHOOL, INCLUDING PARKING LOTS AND ACROSS THE STREET.
