Examining the situation of instability in Iraq. What can be done in order to develop Iraq as a free, democratic country?
Today, Iraq is ranked as the 2nd most unstable country in the world (Sudan is ranked as 1st).
In March 2003, a United States-organized coalition invaded Iraq with the stated reason that Iraq had failed to abandon its nuclear and chemical weapons development program in violation of UN resolution 687. The United States gave further justification for the invasion of Iraq in claims that Iraq had or was developing weapons of mass destruction. This invasion created an opportunity to remove an oppressive dictator from power and bring democracy to Iraq.
These forces have been in Iraq for almost 5 years, and they are trying to build a stable democratic republic after 24 years of tyranny by Saddam Hussein who ruled over Iraq between the years 1979-2003.
The invasion has had wide-reaching consequences such as increasing civil violence and a political breakdown commenced by the removal and execution of former president Saddam Hussein.
The invasion also created and encouraged local terrorist groups to act against the occupation coalition, and a great deal of the unstableness of Iraq is due to the fact hundreds of people are murdered in the area by terrorists.
