Dear Prospective TIMEMUN Participant,

The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel is hosting its 9th International M.U.N. conference in Even Yehuda, Israel, entitled The Israel Middle East Model United Nations, TIMEMUN 2009, on February 15 - February 17, 2009.

We cordially invite you to participate in this conference. We believe that our conference will develop deeper understanding concerning the problems that affect our future in this new century. We think that attendance at our conference offers participants a unique and wonderful opportunity to explore in-depth current regional and global issues that will impact the lives of our students. The agenda includes environmental, human rights and security topics, with specific issues within each topic. Our conference includes a Security Council and seven commissions (Territorial Disputes, Human Rights, Regional Cooperation, Trade and Development, Environment, Economic and Social and Disarmament). We also have a special Eighth Commission on Conflict Resolution that deals with conflict specific to our region, where students do not represent a country, but represent themselves in order to try and develop understanding and tolerance for those who live in this region.

We have set a limited number of vacancies in order to host a close-knit conference. One delegation of 7-8 students per school is recommended. This year we cannot accept admin staff or observers from other schools. In addition, we are taking nominations from the advisers from each school for two students on the 8th commission. This requires preparation during several weekends prior to the conference.

There have been no decisions made yet regarding housing, but we will have very limited home housing again this year. Once we have found suitable lodging or home housing for all who need it, we will let you know.

Please submit your school registration form and fee of 750 NIS per delegation by October 3rd. This is required to guarantee a place at the conference. In addition, each school must send in the names of their participants, with a 300 NIS delegate fee per participant (non refundable) by January 11th, 2009 Attached you will find a preliminary registration form with a country preference sheet. Any late submissions will not be printed in the conference booklet.
